HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — On the 77th anniversary of his death, a wreath will be placed at the base of Hot Springs’ larger-than-life bronze statue of The Bambino on Saturday morning, August 16, at 10:45 a.m.
“This is an especially appropriate moment for us to honor The Babe, since the 2025 Babe Ruth League World Series is now under way at Majestic Park, where Babe played and practiced in the early years of the 20th Century,” Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison said. “Our eight-foot bronze statue of Babe is one of only three in the world and stands at the entrance to our magnificent baseball complex.”
“What a great opportunity for our World Series youngsters from all over the world to take part in a ceremony honoring the namesake of their baseball league,” Majestic Park General Manager Derek Phillips said. “We’ll get these young players involved in this meaningful tribute to one of the greatest players in history.”
“We’re not going to have a bunch of speeches,” Phillips said, “just a quiet wreath-laying to honor this legend on the 77th anniversary of his death on August 16, 1948.”
Placing the wreath at the base of the statue will be Tom Wright, tournament director for the Babe Ruth League, Derek Phillips, general manager of Majestic Park, and members of two of the teams competing in the Babe Ruth World series.
