HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Hot Springs residents should turn out to support the home team that is hosting the 2025 Babe Ruth League World Series for 14-year-olds, which will be played in Hot Springs August 8 – 16.
Teams from across the globe will compete for the championship on Babe Ruth Field at Hot Springs’ Majestic Park baseball complex and at the baseball fields at Lakeside High School, 2889 Malvern Avenue.
“Our city is hosting teams and their fans from across America and the globe, and our team of Hot Springs youngsters really needs Arkansans to show up for them as they play on a world stage starting Friday evening at Majestic Park,” Derek Phillips, the Majestic Park general manager, said Monday. “Our home team faces a team from Nigeria Friday at 7 p.m., and they need Arkansans to cheer them on to victory.
“This is a really big deal for Hot Springs to be chosen as the host for a worldwide sports event, and it would be great to see those stands at Babe Ruth Field filled with cheering fans for the opening game. Let’s show up for these local youngsters”
“Derek and his Majestic Park team have worked hard for a year to bring this great event to Hot Springs,” Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison said. “It gives us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase our city, its attractions and this wonderful sports complex on a world stage.
“It would be icing on the cake if the stands at Babe Ruth Field were packed Friday evening.”
Participating teams from around the world and across America will begin play Saturday at 9 a.m. in a tournament to determine the best team of 14-year-olds in the world.
The teams are: Skagit Valley, Wash., from the Pacific Northwest Region; Westfield, N.J., the Mid Atlantic Region; Vincennes, Ind., from the Ohio Valley Region; Tallahassee, Fla., from the Southeast Region; Eagle Pass, Texas, from the Southwest Region; Mickey Owen Baseball School from Missouri from the Midwest Plains Region; Camas Washougal, Wash., from the Pacific Northwest Region; Hilo Braddas, Hawaii, from the Pacific Southwest Region; Hot Springs, Ark., the Hot Springs host team; Arkadelphia, Ark., the invited team; Nigeria;
Puerto Rico; New Zealand; Philippines, and Mexico.
Tickets for the World Series are available at www.majesticpark.org. Tournament passes are $50 for adults and $30 for kids 7-17. Daily admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for kids 7-17.
Phillips said the opening ceremonies for the series will be held at noon August 8 at Magic Springs Theme and Water Park. All of the teams playing in the World Series will have lunch at Magic Springs and then play in the park until the World Series Village opens at 5 p.m. That will be followed at 7 p.m. by the kickoff game between the host Hot Springs team and Nigeria at Majestic Park.
Although admission to the World Series Village will be free, tickets are needed to watch the games themselves.
“Our city, The Birthplace of Major League Baseball Spring Training, will be hosting teams from all across the United States and the world,” Phillips said. “These young athletes and their support personnel — and lots of their fans — will be in Hot Springs for 10 days of top-level baseball competition.”
“Having the young athletes play at Majestic Park will be especially meaningful for them since this is the very spot where Babe Ruth trained and played in the early years of the 20th Century. They’ll enjoy playing on Babe Ruth Field and our larger-than-life bronze statue of The Babe, one of only three like it in the world.
“Adding to the excitement, Hot Springs Baseball Weekend will take place August 8 – 9, featuring legendary players Johnny Bench, Bill “Spaceman” Lee, Fergie Jenkins, Bret Saberhagen, Steve Garvey and Al Hrabosky.”
